Chat, Memory, Voice, and Call Problems
Fix common chat, Global Memory, voice-message, microphone, camera, and live-call problems.
Updated July 25, 2026
Conversation problems can come from the account, network, selected model, character setup, or device permissions. Change one thing at a time so you can identify the cause.
Chat does not load or send
- Confirm that you are signed in.
- Check the internet connection.
- Refresh the page once.
- Reopen the chat from Chat History.
- Check whether the selected model or action requires subscription access or PORTI.
- Start a new chat with the same character to see whether the problem belongs to one conversation.
Do not repeatedly press a paid action while the first request is still loading.
Missing conversation context
Each chat has its own history. Global Memory is a separate shared memory for one user and one character.
If you expected earlier context:
- Check whether Use Global Memory was enabled when the chat started
- Open the character's memory manager and review the saved details
- Confirm that you are using the same character and account
Turning Global Memory off for one chat does not delete existing memory. Editing memory does not rewrite earlier chat messages.
Read Chat and Memory for the complete behavior.
Voice-message recording does not start
Check that:
- Microphone permission is allowed for ImagiPortal
- Another application is not using the microphone
- The intended microphone is connected and selected by the device
- The browser or app is allowed to use audio input
After changing a permission, reload the page and try one short recording.
A live call does not connect
- Confirm that the character has an active voice.
- Check the internet connection.
- Allow microphone permission.
- Close another application that may be using the microphone or camera.
- End the incomplete session and reconnect once.
If the call remains in a connecting or error state, save the visible message and contact Support.
Connected call has no sound
- Make sure your microphone is not muted
- Increase the device output volume
- Check the selected speaker or headphones
- Disconnect and reconnect a wireless audio device
- Confirm that the browser tab is not muted
- End and restart the call after changing devices
Camera does not work
Your own camera is used only when you choose to share it during a video call. It is off when the call begins.
If it does not start:
- Allow camera permission for ImagiPortal
- Close other camera applications
- Confirm that the correct camera is connected
- Remove and grant the browser permission again
You can continue with a voice-only call without sharing your camera.
Companion video avatar is missing
The character needs a prepared video-call avatar for the talking-avatar experience. A creator manages this appearance from the character profile.
If it is still processing, wait for completion. A public character must be unpublished before its creator can regenerate the video-call avatar.
Read Live Voice and Video Calls for the full call workflow.
